The Dare To Believe DVD (vol. 1)

Well let's see here – it's about five inches across, seven inches high, it's blue and there's a shiny disc inside which if you pop it in your dvd player contains Dare To Believe. Ok, that's all the good things about it said, now the bad news.

This is very poor value for money. For £16.99 (plus the p&p) we only get the first three episodes of series 2, that's three out of thirteen. The disc also contains a gallery, which is never something to get excited about, and that's it.

The main menu design consists of a pepper on a white background from the “What's This?” sketch. This is actually quite funny because the pepper also growls. That's just the sort of bizarre menu I want from a Dare To Believe dvd. Unfortunately, the menu options are not easy to find, being hidden until you hover over them. Funny menu, but also really annoying. I know some people didn't even get past this screen.

Occasionally the main menu will change to plain white text on a black background which says “Temporary Menu – The original dvd menu has been removed for re-design”. Another nice piece of Dare to Believe. Similarly there's a web link to the official site, well not a link because it didn't take me anywhere, which is very Dare to Believe as it gets smaller and smaller. However the official site is now defunct so it's probably best to ignore that.

The DVD itself is rated 15, I imagine this is due to its one drug reference, because otherwise it's fun for all the family. It's just a shame we only get three episodes when you really need all thirteen. In fact it's not a shame it's a rip-off, and one worth getting quite angry about. But remember, this is the only official way to get Dare to Believe.

At least we get some Dare to Believe on the dvd, and the episodes themselves are as fun as they always were. There's nothing I can say about the episodes themselves that I haven't already said before, except here they are again in DVD quality.

So, given everything I said, how do you get this dvd? It was available throught the official site, for a huge price. Now the official site is gone. However the production company that made Dare to Believe have been selling the dvd on ebay. Click here to see their listings. Or contact them. Good luck!
